First Over

First ball – Singh stars
Randwick Petersham have taken out the first grade Limited Overs Cup title, defeating Parramatta by 44 runs. Randwick Petersham’s Eknoor Singh was awarded the Michael Bevan Medal for player of the final, courtesy of his matching winning innings of 125 off 134. This title marks Randwick’s third Limited Overs Cup title, and first since 2020/21.

Second ball – Manly surge to the top
Manly Warringah have stormed to the top of the women’s first grade ladder after securing a three-wicket win over Campbelltown-Camden. The win sees them leapfrog Sydney, knocking them off the top spot for the first time this season.

Third ball – Double digit haul
Lachlan Spencer had a round to remember, taking match figures of 10/57 to sink Sutherland and secure 10 points to keep UTS North Sydney in the hunt for finals. After collecting 4-39 off his nine overs in the first innings, Spencer went on to pick 6-18 off eight overs to see Sutherland bowled out for 89.

Fourth ball – Shirley’s six-fa
Shirley Liu delivered a remarkable spell for Gordon in women’s third grade, dismantling Bankstown’s batting lineup. Gordon posted 151 before Liu got ball in hand to claim an impressive six wickets for as many runs, to see Bankstown all out for 67.

Fifth ball – Saints go marching
In men’s fifth grade, St George showcased their prowess with an impressive batting display and a disciplined bowling performance, to notch up a 143-run victory over Randwick Petersham. Day one belonged to George Kazaknonis who brought up his maiden ton for the Saints, before going on to finish unbeaten on 127. Matthew Iemma kept the momentum flowing for the Saints, picking up 6-12 off his 12 overs to see Randwick bowled out for 120 in their first innings. Randwick began their pursuit of 263 on day two, but St George’s bowling again proved too strong as they finished at 5/120.

Sixth ball – Sydney’s stunning spell
Darrian Dubb-Lynch sits atop the performers in women’s second grade, with a last wicket thriller against Manly. After posting 124, the Sydney attack got to work with ball. Manly looked in the box seat with five wickets in hand, needing just 27 runs, but right on queue, Dubb-Lynch arrived and Manly were 6/100 before losing their remaining wickets for just 23 runs. Dubb-Lynch finished her spell with five wickets for 20 runs off 10 overs.

Second Over

First ball – Breakers in action
Fresh off qualifying for the WNCL final for the first time in five years, a handful of NSW Breakers returned to their club for round 15 of women’s first grade. Gordon’s Elsa Hunter posted a tidy half century against Parramatta, before going on to pick up three wickets – including that of fellow Breaker, Claire Moore (70). Elsewhere, Frankie Nicklin notched up 80 against Bankstown to see Sydney Uni grab a five-wicket win.

Second ball – Clarke cracks another ton
Josh Clarke brought up his fifth century for the season, posting an unbeaten 106 for Western Suburbs in men’s first grade. The knock is Clarke’s 29th first class ton, and third in a row – taking him past 1000 runs for the season and second overall on the ladder of second grade run scorers. Clarke’s career total now sits at 10,715 runs, just one behind Wests’ legend and International Cricket Hall of Fame member, Bob Simpson – they stand at 21 and 22 respectively in the all-time run scorers in men’s first grade.

Third ball –   Hudson’s haul
The Southern Swans sit third on the Brewer Shield ladder and have secured a home semi final after a bowling masterclass from Nicola Hudson. Hudson ran rampant against Manly, claiming five wickets and conceding just nine runs in 10 overs. In their hunt for 158, Manly were bowled out for just 86 in the 35th over. The Swans are joined in the finals by Gordon, St George-Sutherland, Manly Warringah, Penrith and Greater Hunter Coast.

Fourth Ball – 7-wicket wonders
The only thing better than one seven-fa is two, and that’s precisely what was served up in men’s second grade. Northern District’s Jonty Webb cleaned up Northern Districts’ lineup, finishing with 7-50 off his 20 overs, while Bankstown’s Gurinderjeet Hara picked up 7-60 off his 19 overs against Manly.

Fifth Ball – Mavros smashes career-best
Campbelltown Camden’s Aurora Mavros has cemented herself at the top of the women's second grade run scorers, smashing a career-best 132 against Northern District to take her to 583 runs at an average of 41.64. Mavros combined with fellow opener Grace Augustine (70) to get Campbelltown Camden off to a belter in their eventual seven wicket win.
