International schedule locked in for Sydney

Cricket Australia have announced the home international schedule for the 2024/25 summer with India, Pakistan and England teams set to visit the harbour city.

The highlight of the fixture sees the New Year’s ‘Pink’ Test locked in for the SCG from January 3, with the blockbuster finale to the five-Test Match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series between Pat Cummins’ men and India set to be one of the most sought-after events of the summer.

The iconic SCG will also host a men’s T20I against Pakistan (November 16) and a massive T20I match against England (January 20) in the women’s Ashes featuring home-grown superstars Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry and Ash Gardner.

The Australian women will also play England in an Ashes ODI at North Sydney Oval on January 12.

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said the fixture would allow the state’s cricket fans to see the world’s best players in their own backyard.

“It is great to see the tradition of playing the New Year’s Pink Test at the SCG has been honoured and fans in Sydney and around NSW will have the opportunity to see the likes of Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood in action against what should be a great Indian side,” Germon said.

“The women’s game continues to grow too and the decision to play an Ashes match at the SCG is a great recognition of that. I hope local fans really get behind Alyssa Healy and her team.

“The international matches will be complemented by what is shaping up as the biggest and most exciting WBBL and BBL seasons and we are eagerly awaiting the release of those schedules.

“The Sixers and Thunder squads for both tournaments are taking shape and we will have some very exciting announcements in the coming months and will be guaranteed to thrill our members and fans.”
