  • Why I joined this comp:

"I loved playing cricket at school but there was no club cricket available when I finished school. I’ve been looking to play for years and joined the Twilight Smash series a few seasons ago which has been great fun. I really wanted to play hard ball cricket in a proper completion though and was very excited to hear about the Metro comp."

"I wanted to play the sport I love socially without competitive pressure and with a range of ages and people within my community/area."

    About the clubs:

“I've played for a lot of different sports clubs that don't even bother paying lip service to the women's teams, but Briars literally put their money where their mouth was by subsidising fees, putting on the bbq for free for the opening game, and getting other members of the club down to support. Ollie was an excellent coach, and was very committed to the team.”

"Best experience I have had at a cricket club. Provided uniforms for free, president showed up to all games he was available. The boys team were very involved and would help with admin, field setup, coaching, trainings and would just be supportive and cheer us on."

"Castle Hill RSL are a wonderful club to play for. I played for them over 10 years ago and was welcomed back fully when I decided to return to more than social cricket."

Why should someone join this comp?

"Fantastic opportunity to continue playing cricket without the stress of representative pathways OR to get back into cricket after a break. To enjoy playing sport with a great group of women without a massive commitment in terms of time."

"A great competition with a bunch of skilled and competitive women."

"It was a fun competition to be part of with a real mix of abilities from completely new players to those returning after a short or long break from competitive cricket. I loved the feeling of taking wickets again and rediscovering that passion!"

"It was a great opportunity to play proper cricket with others just giving it a go or returning to cricket and having a place for girls who have aged- out of junior competitions to continue to play. The opportunity to play with my daughter was just amazing and it was so much fun!"

"Playing in the Metro Cup reminded me how much I love cricket and how important women playing cricket is. It was fun to return to a sport I love being surrounded by women who have the same passion. It was a great experience encouraging and supporting each other through wins and losses and working together to develop individual skills as well as our team dynamic. Everyone was competitive, wanting to win but there was also a supportiveness both within my team as well as our opponents. Everyone wanted to learn and do their best, having good banter and jokes whilst enjoying the game."
