As a sport, cricket is blessed to have quality people who give so much time and expertise to provide opportunities for people to play and love cricket. For many, the sport becomes ingrained as part of their lifestyle, a commitment spanning many years and across many aspects of the game, on field and off field.
As such, in season 2024/25, Cricket NSW launched the Community Distinguished Service Award, recognising 43 x individuals across the State who have given so much to cricket in their local community, over an extended period of time.
In season 2025/26, Cricket NSW will again be accepting nominations for the award and will honor recipients at several recognition events, including within the Chairmans Lounge on Day 4 (7 January 2026) of the Sydney Test, within the new ‘Pavillion’ at Cricket Central on March 15 during the NSW vs WA Sheffield Shield fixture, and celebrations in recipients' hometowns and suburbs alongside friends and family.
Eligibility
- Nominee has been involved in cricket in the NSW community for 25 years or more
- Nominee resides in NSW
- Roles eligible for consideration – committee member, coach, Cricket Blast coordinator, team manager, scorer, umpire, groundskeeper, player.
- Is active in Season 2025/26 in one of the above roles
- Restricted to one (1) person nominated per cricket organisation affiliated to NSW Cricket Association (i.e. Cricket NSW)
Clarifying note: being a member organisation of an Affiliate qualifies as being an affiliate of the NSW Cricket Association.
Recognition Events
Select recipients will be invited to attend the Chairmans Lounge on Day 4 (7 January 2026) of the Australia vs England test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Cricket NSW will be inviting recipients to a recognition event within ‘The Pavillion’ at Cricket Central on Day 2 of the New South Wales vs Western Australia Sheffield Match on 15 March 2026.
Nomination
Applications open 3 November 2025 and close 23 November 2025.
