The NSW Blues have included Australian Under-19 representative Naden Cooray in a 13-player squad for Tuesday’s One-Day Cup match against Tasmania at Cricket Central.
Four potential debutants selected for Blues' One-Day Cup clash
Mosman Cricket Club’s Cooray, one of four potential debutants in the squad, claimed six wickets during this year’s Under-19 World Cup campaign in Zimbabwe, while the 20-year-old leg-spinner is coming off some impressive performances in the Kingsgrove Sports T20 competition.
Bryce Jackson, Ryan Hicks and Reiley Mark, who each played last week’s Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania, could also make their One-Day Cup debut for NSW on Tuesday.
In the absence of Lachlan Shaw, who is currently representing Australia A in India, Charlie Stobo will lead the Blues’ white-ball side for the first time on Tuesday, becoming the team’s 38th one-day skipper. Ben Dwarshuis and Tanveer Sangha, who featured in both of NSW’s One-Day Cup triumphs against Queensland and Victoria last month, are also unavailable due to Australia A commitments, while Nic Maddinson remains in South Africa with the Test team.
Liam Hatcher joins the Blues set-up having returned from India last week, while Jack Nisbet and Joe Colgan drop out of the squad. Kurtis Patterson rejoins the white-ball team having missed last month’s victory over Victoria with a groin injury, while Jack Edwards is in line to play his first One-Day Cup match of the season.
The NSW Blues’ One-Day Cup match against Tasmania gets underway at Cricket Central on Tuesday at 10am AEDT. Australian fans can watch the action on cricket.com.au and Kayo Sports.
