Vale Bruce Collins 1948-2026

Cricket NSW is saddened by the passing of former CNSW and Cricket Australia Director, Bruce Collins KC.

Collins’ service on the game’s state and national boards during the early 2000s came amid a 60-year association with the Sydney University Cricket Club.

Hailing from Taree in regional NSW, Collins joined the Sydney University Cricket Club while studying Law on campus. He scored almost 4500 runs and played 64 First Grade matches with ‘The Students’, before finishing his playing career with the renowned I Zingari club.

Collins later served as SUCC’s President and delegate to the Sydney Cricket Association and was Chair of the SCA’s Committee of Management.

A highly distinguished barrister, Collins was appointed a Queen’s (later King’s) Counsel in 1989 and undertook numerous high-profile government and private sector appointments locally and globally.

Collins will be remembered as an engaging speaker and devoted volunteer, whose lifetime of service enriched the game.

Players and umpires will wear a black arm band in SCA men’s premier cricket matches on Saturday, October 3 to express grief and to honour the memory of Bruce Colins KC and his contribution to our game. One minute’s silence will be observed before each first, third and fifth grade fixture across the competition.
