From the classroom to the MCG: Learning where sport happens

Students from the NSW College of Sport Management recently left their campus HQ at Cricket Central and took their learning on the road to Melbourne for an immersive industry experience, delivered in partnership with Richmond Football Club, Richmond Institute and the Melbourne Storm.

The visit gave students the opportunity to build the skills, confidence and networks that will help prepare them for careers across the sports industry.

During the Melbourne experience, students:

  • Built their job-readiness skills, learning how to create stronger resumes and present themselves effectively to prospective employers.
  • Put networking into practice, connecting with Richmond Institute students and staff and developing the confidence to start conversations, master small talk and build new professional relationships.
  • Experienced an AFL game day from the inside, including an on-ground pre-game experience at the MCG before seeing Richmond FC in action.
  • Experienced another side of Melbourne’s sporting landscape with a visit to AAMI Park to watch the Melbourne Storm.

Opportunities like these are central to what the NSW College of Sport Management is about — connecting education with the real world of sport and giving students access to the people, places and experiences that can help shape their future careers.

A big thank you to Richmond Football Club and Richmond Institute and the Melbourne Storm for welcoming our students and helping create such a valuable learning experience.
