24 NSW cricketers connect with thousands of kids in 2026 Country Blitz

To help encourage local registrations ahead of the 2026/27 season, Blues and Breakers players ventured to 12 regions across New South Wales last week for a series of school visits and clinics. 

Breakers young gun Caoimhe Bray and Sydney Sixers recruit Ollie Davies played beach cricket with some of the locals at Terrigal Beach, while Sydney Thunder wicketkeeper Tahlia Wilson and Blues fast bowler Charlie Stobo visited regional towns Gilgandra and Warren in the Far West. 

Thunder opener Sam Konstas and Breakers batter Anika Learoyd met hundreds of aspiring cricketers across the Greater Illawarra region, while Blues quick Liam Hatcher and Sixers veteran Erin Burns visited the construction site for a new cricket facility at Watagan Park. 

Other Blues and Breakers players to participate in the Country Blitz include Kurtis Patterson, Elsa Hunter, Bryce Jackson, Frankie Nicklin, Lachie Shaw, Lauren Cheatle, Jack Edwards, Jake Scott, Emma Manix-Geeves, Harjas Singh, Sienna Eve, Ryan Hadley, Katie Mack, Hannah Darlington, Tanveer Sangha, Sarah Coyte and Bryce Jackson. 

In total, Cricket NSW conducted 46 school visits during the Country Blitz, along with 444 registrations across 19 come-and-try clinics. 

"It's one of the highlights of the year, seeing not only the next gen, but the country kids coming through that we can either introduce cricket to or get them involved in some capacity," said Breakers all-rounder Hannah Darlington, who visited Bathurst, Orange and Cowra in the Central Tablelands region alongside Thunder spinner Tanveer Sangha. 

"You look across the professional teams, a lot of kids have grown up coming from regional areas, and they got introduced through an experience very similar to this, so for us to be able to come out here and show them that it's a good pathway for them, it's super important."
