The NSW Blues will welcome back two international stars for their pursuit of a 13th One-Day Cup title in Wednesday’s Final against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval.
Blues squad named for One-Day Cup Final
Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis will both return to the NSW side, bolstering the core group that secured four regular season wins on the road to the Final.
Regular Blues skipper Jack Edwards remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Kurtis Patterson, the competition’s leading batter with 513 runs at an average of 102.60, will once again captain the side.
The squad also features three bowlers inside the top 10 wicket-takers for the season, led by leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha, whose 18 wickets at 18.05 apiece is three clear of his nearest rival.
Charlie Anderson, Peter Francis and Charlie Stobo make way from the squad that faced Tasmania a fortnight ago. NSW achieved a bonus point victory in that fixture, securing second place on the table and setting up a rematch in the Dean Jones Trophy decider.
Wednesday’s match begins at 2:05pm AEDT and will be available to watch on Foxtel, Kayo Sports and cricket.com.au.
Greg Mail, Cricket NSW Chief Cricket Performance Officer, said:
“We are excited with the opportunity to chase silverware in this competition.
“The team have played some excellent one-day cricket this summer, punctuated by an extraordinary run chase at Bellerive Oval a fortnight ago.
“We have seen contributions come from across the board, highlighted by Kurtis Patterson with the bat and Tanveer Sangha with the ball, who each lead the competition statistically.
“We welcome back Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis from Australian duty at the T20 World Cup and look forward to squaring off against a good Tasmanian team.”
