Outlaws, Illawarra Crowned Plan B Winners

Western Outlaws and Greater Illawarra have claimed the 2025/26 Plan B Country Bash titles, delivering standout performances in the Female and Male Finals at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

For many players, coaches, and officials, it was a first-time experience competing at the SCG, a true highlight for country cricket participants, and a chance to showcase their talents on one of the game’s most famous pitches.

Both finals were tightly contested T20 matches, with teams having earned their place in the deciders by finishing as the top two in their respective competitions.

In a thrilling encounter, the Western Outlaws edged out Central Coast Rush by three runs in the Female Plan B Country Bash Final. Batting first, Western set a competitive total of 5/122, anchored by a brilliant 52 from Kira Churchland.

Central Coast Rush began their chase strongly, with opener Amy Cunningham scoring 32 and Rachael Davies striking a well-paced 44, keeping the contest alive. However, the chase faltered in the final overs as the Outlaws’ bowlers tightened the screws to secure a three-run win.

In the men’s final, Greater Illawarra set a tidy 4/189, led by a spectacular unbeaten century from Jayden Zahra‑Smith, who blasted 118 off 60 balls to anchor the innings.

North Coastal began their run chase with intent, but regular wickets at crucial moments prevented them from building the partnerships required. Dylan Craig fought hard with a well‑made 69, supported by Alex Williams’ 31, but the depth and discipline of the bowling attack kept the scoring in check to allowing Illawarra to claim the 38-run win.
