Central Coast claim maiden Men’s Open Country Championship title

Central Coast have etched their name into the history books, securing their first-ever Men’s Open Country Championships title with a composed six-wicket victory over North Coastal at Oxley Oval in Port Macquarie.

The Final brought together the top two teams from the preliminary rounds held across Central Coast and Newcastle from 27–30 November, setting the stage for a high-quality contest between two evenly matched sides.

After being sent into bat after losing the toss, North Coastal posted a competitive 207, built around a solid 66 from Patrick Rosser and a valuable 45 from Connor McKiernan. Central Coast’s bowling unit maintained pressure throughout, with Lachlan Rainger the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3/34.

In reply, Central Coast showed patience and class, anchored by an unbeaten 81 from Liam O’Farrell, who guided his side home with confidence. He found excellent support from Callum Rainger, whose unbeaten 51 ensured there were no late nerves as the side reached the target in the 30th over.
