NSW Women’s Team selectors have named a 14-player squad for their opening two Women’s National Cricket League matches against Victoria at CitiPower Centre in Melbourne on September 26 and 28.
Breakers name squad for WNCL season opener
Lauren Cheatle will skipper the side that includes potential debutants Tara French, Lauren Kua and Katie Mack, alongside young-gun Caoimhe Bray, veteran Sarah Coyte and last season’s WNCL Player of the Year, Tahlia Wilson.
A product of the Breakers’ rookie program, Mack, has played 121 WNCL matches for ACT and at 34 is in line to add a NSW cap to the collection.
Young pace bowler French impressed in Second XI cricket and pathway programs last season to earn her first senior squad call-up, while Malaysian-born allrounder and Basil Sellers Scholar alumni, Kua, pushes for her first Breakers appearance.
English international Georgia Adams returns for her third season with the Breakers after captaining the side to their 21st title last summer.
Ashleigh Gardner, Alyssa Healy, Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry are unavailable as they prepare for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in India, while Hannah Darlington was not considered due to a knee injury. Erin Burns remains unavailable on parental leave.
Both matches get underway at 10.00am and can be seen live on Kayo and cricket.com.au
