Cricket Stars to Hit the Road for Country Blitz

On August 6 and 7, 25 cricket stars from the Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunder, NSW Blues and Breakers will hit the road, travelling across regional New South Wales, connecting cricket with community and inspiring the next generation to play and love the game.

Over two action-packed days, players will visit 12 regions and take part in more than 50 events – from school visits and cricket clinics to come-and-try days, junior club drop-ins, and volunteer appreciation lunches.

With registrations for the 2025/26 cricket season now open, Country Blitz gives kids the chance to learn from their heroes as they gear up for a huge summer of cricket.

As always, many players will be heading back to where it all began – their hometowns, old clubs, and even former schools.

Sixers fast bowler Maitlan Brown will visit her old school, Wingham Brush Public, just around the corner from her junior club, Wingham CC. Rising star Caoimhe Bray returns to St Joseph’s Denman and Denman CC, reconnecting with the community that helped launch her career.

Charlie Anderson, proud Kamilaroi man and NSW Blues paceman, will return to Darkinjung Country on the Central Coast, while Jake Scott is heading home to Wagga Wagga and his first club, South Wagga.

Martin Gleeson, Cricket NSW Chief Community Cricket Officer, said Country Blitz is a key moment in the lead-up to summer.

“Many of our elite players in the state and W/BBL teams began their journeys in Country NSW and the Country Blitz provides a great opportunity for our players to support Country communities as they get ready for the massive summer of cricket that we’re set to have.

“Country Blitz also supports local clubs with their promotions and recruitment for the coming season and for our staff and players to meet and thank the many volunteers who are essential to the game’s success locally.

“Cricket is an integral part of Australia’s great sporting tradition. Our mission at Cricket NSW is to inspire every child in the state to play and love the game."
