Stobo signs with NSW Blues

Charlie Stobo will return to where his journey began, signing with the NSW Blues for the 2025/26 season after a successful stint with Western Australia.

Stobo returns to his home state having made his first-class debut for the Blues in the 2016/17 season before contributing to multiple title-winning campaigns with WA. The paceman has taken 55 wickets at 24.98, with best bowling figures of 4/46 in Sheffield Shield cricket.

A second-generation NSW representative, Stobo is the son of former Blues fast bowler Richard Stobo, continuing the family legacy in sky blue.

“Coming back to NSW means a great deal to me, both professionally and personally. It’s exciting to be training and playing alongside guys who supported me early in my career. I’ve always felt a strong connection to the Blues, so having the chance to represent them again is a real privilege,” Stobo said.

“I’m always looking to expand and improve my own game, but I’m also really motivated to share the experience I’ve gained and hopefully play a role in helping NSW return to winning titles.

”I feel a very different player to when I left. Just by having a few more years of cricket under my belt, I’m more aware of how to best manage my body, and how I should be mentally preparing for games.”

Greg Shipperd said the return of Charlie Stobo would be a valuable boost for the Blues.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Charlie back into the NSW fold,” Shipperd said.

“He adds valuable depth to our fast-bowling group, which is often tested throughout the season due to national team commitments.

“Charlie’s ability to consistently control his line and length, along with his durability, are traits that make him a great fit for our bowling unit. He also offers something with the bat in the lower order, which is a handy bonus for us.

“We look forward to him firing up this season back home.”
