Australian star Glenn Maxwell will round out a week of big-name signings for Cricket NSW high-performance partner, Washington Freedom ahead of the second season of Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States.
Maxwell completes trio of star-studded of star-studded signings
The allrounder is set to join Australian teammates Steve Smith and Travis Head who were announced by the franchise earlier this week, in addition to up-and-coming New Zealand star Rachin Ravindra.
One of the sport’s all-time greats and now one of the most sought-after off-field properties, Ricky Ponting was unveiled as the Washington side’s head coach earlier this year, joining forces with Freedom’s General Manager of Cricket, Michael Klinger.
A part of Australia’s World Cup winning side last November, Maxwell produced one of the most-memorable innings in a World Cup campaign when he notched an astonishing double century (201*) to guide Australia to a semi-final berth.
Cricket NSW is the official high-performance partner of the Washington Freedom and is responsible for building a high-performance environment.
This includes player contracting and management, implementing a top-class coaching team and other high-performance roles, sports science and sports medicine, performance analysis and team operations.
The second season of Major League Cricket is scheduled to begin on July 4th.
