Manly Warringah have held off a visiting North Coastal side by 23-runs to secure bragging rights in the annual U16 City v Country clash.
Manly Warringah claim City v Country honours
This spirited fixture pits the winning club from metropolitan NSW’s AW Green Shield, against the champions from regional NSW’s equivalent competition, the Bradman Cup.
On Sunday, Manly Warringah won the toss and chose to set a target at Weldon Oval, Curl Curl.
The Waratah’s top five did little to trouble the scorers, falling to 5-109, before Myles Kapoor made his way out into the middle.
Manly’s top-scorer throughout the AW Green Shield continued his hot form at the crease, adding 72 runs from 76 deliveries.
A late hitting display from Miles Milliner (52*) would help elevate the hosts to 8/263 from their 50 overs.
North Coastal opener, Brody Felton (64), composed a patient half-century while wickets fell around him at the hands of prolific Waratahs wicket-taker, Julian Osbourne (2-15).
A flurry of boundaries from an unbeaten Joe Parsons (54*) would prove too little, too late, as the city side defended their total and claimed glory over their regional counterparts.
