Breakers squad for Perth WNCL matches

The NSW Women’s Team have named a 14-player squad to take on Western Australia in a pair of Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) fixtures to be played at the WACA Ground in Perth, this week.

The matches, on Friday and Sunday, both start at 5.00pm (Sydney time) and will be live on Kayo and cricket.com.au.

English veteran Georgia Adams will captain the group, becoming the 32nd woman to lead the NSW Women’s Team. Adams will replace Sammy-Jo Johnson as skipper, allowing the Breakers to tap into Adams’ vast leadership experience.

Hannah Darlington returns to the squad after managing a lower back injury since the conclusion of the WBBL season.

Australian representatives Alyssa Healy, Ash Gardner and Phoebe Litchfield were unavailable for selection as they manage workload between international commitments.

Head of Female Elite Cricket at Cricket NSW, Leah Poulton said:

“We’re very lucky to have a player with Georgia’s captaincy experience in the squad. Georgia has come into our program and had an immediate impact. The way in which she’s fitted in in such a short space of time speaks volumes of her as a person and leader.

“Sammy Jo’s leadership remains integral to our program. The change in her on-field role will allow for greater focus on her own game over the coming period.

“We’re excited to have Hannah (Darlington) back in the squad after some time off the field and also looking forward to seeing Erin Burns in action again after her century in our last match against Tasmania.”
