Breakers fall short in second WNCL outing of 23-24

The NSW Breakers have started the 2023-24 WNCL season with a win and a loss after falling 79 runs short in their run chase against Queensland today at Cricket Central.

Ash Gardner demonstrated her wicket-taking ability, grabbing figures of 3-40 from 10 overs after top scoring in the Breakers opening fixture on Friday.

Star recruit Sarah Coyte took two scalps whilst Sammy-Jo Johnson, Maitlan Brown, Erin Burns and Hannah Darlington grabbed a-wicket-a-piece, restricting the visiting side to a 215 run total. 

The Breakers were unable to get going at the crease, falling 79-runs shy of the target.

The Breakers will return to action on Thursday September 28 for a T20 fixture against a touring West Indies outfit. The squad for this fixture will be named in the coming days.
