NSW Breakers squad named for 2026-27

The NSW Breakers have named a strong and stable 2026-27 squad, featuring 15 players on full contracts, two rookies, and three centrally contracted Australian representatives.

Wicketkeeper-batter Emma Manix-Geeves has joined NSW from Tasmania, adding experience and depth to the group. The 25-year-old has compiled 1339 runs at an average of 28.48 in her WNCL career, with the most recent of her two centuries coming against the Breakers in February.

Manix-Geeves is the sole interstate arrival in the squad, the core of which has taken the Breakers to consecutive WNCL finals, including the 2024-25 title.

Caoimhe Bray has earned an upgrade to a full contract, recognising her all-round development and exciting potential.

Lucy Finn has been added to the squad’s rookie list following her breakout campaign for NSW and Sydney Thunder. Tara French also moves to the rookie list.

Australian stars Ashleigh Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry remain an integral part of the broader Breakers group as Cricket Australia contracted players.

Several key players have recommitted to the Breakers, with contract extensions confirmed for Erin Burns, who has returned following parental leave, along with Samantha Bates, Maitlan Brown, Frankie Nicklin and Claire Moore.

The Breakers will continue to work closely with Hampshire on a tailored plan for Georgia Adams, who remains an important part of the NSW Breakers program moving forward.

Cricket NSW thanks Jade Allen and Kate Pelle for their contribution to the Breakers program after they were not offered new contracts. The upcoming season also marks a new chapter for the squad following the retirement of Alyssa Healy, whose impact on the Breakers and the game more broadly leaves a significant legacy.

Leah Poulton, Cricket NSW Head of Elite Female Cricket, said:

“The NSW Breakers’ 2026-27 squad builds on the strong performances from last year, with a squad that’s balanced and stable.

“Last season demonstrated how far the group has come, growing into a consistent and high-performing team, winning 11 of 12 matches on the way to a second consecutive WNCL Final. We are in a strong position to build on that this year.

“We’ve been deliberate in retaining our core and rewarding players who continue to contribute on and off the field, while also creating opportunities for the next wave coming through.

“There is a clear pathway for our players, demonstrated by Caoimhe Bray’s elevation to the full squad list and Lucy Finn earning a rookie contract.

“We’re also pleased to welcome Emma Manix-Geeves to NSW and excited by what she can bring. Her arrival adds immediate strength to our batting and provides cover as an additional wicket keeper.”

The Breakers will return to training at Cricket Central in June in preparation for the 2026-27 domestic season.
