Katie Mack and Kurtis Patterson have been crowned NSW’s domestic cricketers of the year, taking home the Belinda Clark and Steve Waugh Medals respectively at the 2025/26 Cricket NSW Awards night at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Mack, Patterson earn top honours at Cricket NSW Awards Night
In front of their teammates, coaches, dignitaries and partners of NSW cricket, Mack and Patterson took home the state’s highest individual honours following their outstanding campaigns for the Breakers and Blues.
Mack capped a remarkable return to NSW this season by claiming the Belinda Clark Medal. The award follows her prolific 659-run WNCL season that guided the Breakers to their second consecutive Final. Mack also took out the state and national Player of the Competition awards.
Patterson was crowned the Steve Waugh Medalist for the first time, recognising his consistency and leadership for the Blues. He was instrumental in leading NSW to their 13th One-Day Cup title, with his 565-run campaign also earning him the Michael Bevan One-Day Cup Player of the Competition. Additionally, Patterson enjoyed a memorable Sheffield Shield season, marking his 100th First Class appearance for NSW with a career-best 173 not out.
Before the major awards were presented, the night celebrated excellence across domestic cricket and the Big Bash Leagues.
Liam Hatcher was named the Sheffield Shield Player of the Competition after a career-best season that saw him top the Blues’ wicket-taking charts with 44 scalps.
Sydney Thunder’s Heather Knight was awarded her third Alex Blackwell Medal as the WBBL Player of the Season, while Chris Green claimed the Mike Hussey Medal as Thunder’s BBL Player of the Season for the second time.
The Sydney Sixers honoured Ashleigh Gardner as their WBBL Player of the Competition, rewarding a strong season under her new captaincy, while Joel Davies was named the Sixers BBL Player of the Competition after a breakout campaign.
Umpire Ben Treloar was named the Representative Umpire of the Year for the first time after an exceptional year across all formats.
NSW debutants across all formats were recognised, as were milestones achieved by Patterson (100 First Class matches), Daniel Hughes (100 BBL matches) and Moises Henriques (150 BBL matches).
Tributes were paid to retiring greats Alyssa Healy and Chris Tremain. Healy was celebrated for a glittering career that included eight World Cups, 11 WNCL titles, two WBBL championships and a Commonwealth Games gold medal, while Tremain’s fine First-Class career that included three Sheffield Shield titles was also acknowledged.
The night also featured special recognition of Basil Sellers, whose generosity has supported the next generation of NSW cricketers for 20 years. The Basil Sellers Emerging Player Program has seen 178 young players receive a scholarship, with 25 going on to play for Australia.
Lee Germon, Cricket NSW CEO, said:
“Congratulations to all award winners on their outstanding 2025-26 seasons for the Breakers, Blues, Sixers and Thunder.
“In particular, I’d like to congratulate Katie Mack and Kurtis Patterson on winning their first Belinda Clark and Steve Waugh Medals respectively. Both Katie and Kurtis enjoyed prolific campaigns with the bat and demonstrated great leadership and humility on and off the field.”
