NSW Women’s selectors have picked a 13-players squad for tomorrow’s Women’s National Cricket League final against Queensland at Cricket Central.
Breakers set for WNCL decider
The Breakers squad sees just one change from their final regular round, with Laura Kua making way for Alyssa Healy, who will play her final professional match with the side where her elite career began.
NSW enter the decider after a dominant campaign, finishing on top of the table and dropping just one match for the season. That form has been underpinned by their performances at Cricket Central, where they’ve remained undefeated from their six matches so far this season, including back-to-back wins over the visitors in February.
The Breakers will draw on a proud history in the competition, claiming 21 titles from 29 campaigns since the WNCL’s inception in 1996/97. The two sides met in last year’s final, where NSW defended 215 at Allan Border Field, and will now look to secure back-to-back titles.
Ahead of the decider, NSW head coach Pete Clarke said:
“We’re grateful to have the opportunity to compete in the final. We’ll prepare as well as we can, give our best on the day, and let the chips fall where they may. That’s what we do every game, and that’s what we’ll do again.
“We enjoy the work, especially the process of trying to be the best we can be as a team. And that’s not a ‘destination’ you ever reach, rather something that we can continually strive for and keep evolving together.
“If we’re able to stay present and enjoy the opportunity ahead of us, we’ll give ourselves the chance to put our best on show. If we do that, we’ll live with whatever outcome is there for us.”
Play begins at 10.00am AEDT and entry is free to spectators. View the spectator guide HERE.
