Epping Bulls Cricket Club are NSW Community Cup champions for 2025/26, defeating Lindfield District Cricket Club by 37 runs on a rain-affected but action-packed Finals Day at Cricket Central.
Bulls breakthrough to win Community Cup
After back-to-back Finals Day appearances without the trophy, the Bulls finally broke through, producing a complete performance in the decider of the competition, with matches streamed live on Frogbox Play for those not brave enough to weather the elements.
Batting first, Epping posted 8-149 from 20 overs, built around Thomas Hall’s 45 off 34 balls and 38 from 31 deliveries by Marcus Miller. Lindfield stayed in the contest through Daniel Miles, who claimed three wickets.
But it was Bulls all-rounder Billy McCarthy who owned the final. His remarkable spell included a triple wicket maiden on the way to a four-wicket haul, as Lindfield were bowled out for 112 in 18 overs. McCarthy also starred in the field with a superb boundary display, earning Player of the Final honours.
Earlier in the day, Lindfield advanced with a seven-wicket win over Normanhurst in a reduced-overs clash, while the Bulls defeated Sawtell Cricket Club (Sixers Cricket League – Coffs Harbour) who made the trip from the north coast, by five wickets.
Now in its third year, the NSW Community Cup is a statewide knockout competition open to affiliated clubs, played under BBL Playing Conditions. Teams progressed through local rounds before qualifying for the semi-finals and Finals Day at Cricket Central.
Cricket NSW extends their thanks to the officials and ground staff who worked tirelessly to ensure play was possible despite extensive rain across the weekend.
