NSW and Australian batting great Steve Smith will return to the Blues' Sheffield Shield squad as one of three inclusions for this week's clash with Queensland at the Gabba.
Smith will pull on the baggy blue for the first time in 12 months, as one of two planned Shield appearances in preparation for the upcoming Ashes series.
Blues rookie Ryan Hicks has been named in the squad to keep wicket and will become NSW first-class player number 775.
The 20-year-old, who hails from the Mosman Cricket Club, was a member of Australia's victorious 2024 ICC Under 19 World Cup winning side and made a century in the recent Second XI fixture against South Australia.
Northern District fast bowler Ross Pawson, who made his first-class debut at the Gabba in February, has also been added to the squad.
Tanveer Sangha has joined the Australian T20 squad to face India, while Sean Abbott is recovering from a hand injury. Matt Gilkes and Blake Nikitaras have been omitted.
