Following on from the Open for Business campaigns from the last two years, this time, Cricket NSW facilitated clubs to be able to open player registrations in April, for a variety of important reasons.
By allowing participants and their parents to register as close as possible to events such as grand finals or presentation days, clubs are able to connect with their players and better plan ahead for the next season. This also helps reinforce participant engagement and maintain community involvement within the clubs.
Additionally, this initiative reduces the workload on volunteers, ensuring smoother operations by distributing the workload. By distributing the registration process over the winter months, Clubs can avoid the rush before the season starts. This allows volunteers in the weeks leading into the season to concentrate on essential tasks like team formation.
Opening for business earlier than usual also strengthens the structure and capabilities of Clubs. Clubs are given the opportunity to identifying potential coordinators, coaches, and volunteers early and implement targeted training and upskilling opportunities, well in advance of the season.
Aligning the registration period with Cricket NSW activities and school programs, capitalises on the lead activities conducted, creating a steady flow of new participants. This strategic approach not only prepares Clubs for the upcoming season but also supports the sustainable growth of cricket.
