New South Wales Women’s Team star Anika Learoyd has been named Cricket Australia’s Indigenous Cricketer of the Year following an outstanding 12 months of performances.

The accolade caps off an incredible season for the 22-year-old Gumbaynggirr woman who won the Ruth Preddy Cup with the NSW Breakers and earned a call-up to the Governor-General's XI v England in January, the 'Green v Gold' red-ball match in March, and the ongoing multi-format series between Australia A and England A.
Learoyd played a pivotal role in the Breakers’ successful WNCL campaign, representing NSW in every match this season. Her crowning moment came in the WNCL final against Queensland, where she delivered a Player of the Match performance to help secure state’s first WNCL title since 2018/19.
Over the course of the season, Learoyd amassed 577 runs from 13 innings at an average of 48.08, including her second WNCL century, finishing just 90 runs shy of the competition’s highest scorer, Tahlia Wilson.
Alongside the WNCL title, the NSW Women’s Team (Breakers) have won the Women's Benaud Spirit of Cricket Award finishing with 93 points at the end of the WNCL season, three points ahead of Queensland.
Points were awarded across categories such as Respect for Opponents, Respect for Umpires, and Respect for the Game.
Earlier this year, Wilson was named the T20 Spring Challenge Player of the Year and the WNCL Player of the Year.
Sydney Sixers captain Ellyse Perry was also named the joint winner Weber Women’s Big Bash League Player of the Year.
