New State Umpire Panel Announced

The Cricket NSW State Umpire Panel will comprise five members of New South Wales Cricket Umpires’ and Scorers’ Association (NSWCUSA) in season 2025-26.

Jeff Egan, based in Temora in the State’s Riverina Zone, is a member of the Country Umpire Representative Panel (CURP) and in season 2024-25 was the recipient of the Kevin Pye Medal for being Country Umpire of the Year having officiated in the final of both the Men’s Country Championships and the Men’s Regional T20 Bash. He joined NSWCUSA in 2005 and was elevated to the CURP prior to the start of the 2022-23 season, being the proud owner of cap #56. Egan has umpired 11 matches in men’s premier cricket, including four first grade fixtures.

Patrick Jackson joined NSWCUSA in 2022 and has been umpiring for three seasons. He has now stood in 47 men’s premier cricket fixtures, 26 of which have been in first grade, umpiring the third-grade final in season 2024-25. Jackson is a former distinguished Grade cricketer, winning the Bill O’Reilly Medal for first grade player of the year in season 2013-14. He also represented the NSW Blues at first-class level, playing in the 2014-15 Sheffield Shield fixture at the MCG against Victoria. In 2024-25 Jackson umpired a semi-final at the U17 Male National Championships played in Launceston.

Lauren McGill joined NSWCUSA in 2019 and has now umpired 14 matches in men’s premier cricket in Sydney. Additionally, she's umpired 15 women’s premier cricket first grade fixtures and matches in Country Cricket NSW representative programs. Lauren has umpired two Cricket Australia National Championships, U16F in 2023-24 in Hobart and U19F in 2024-25 in Perth. On both occasions, Lauren was appointed to umpire the final by Cricket Australia. Lauren umpired four matches in the Women’s A Series in 2024-25 between Australia and England.

Daniel Moran was elevated to the State Panel in season 2022-23 and has officiated in WBBL, WNCL and Men’s State Second XI fixtures. He officiated at the U19 Male National Championships in 2023-24 in Albury, being appointed to umpire a semi-final. Moran joined NSWCUSA in 2017 and has now umpired 103 men’s premier cricket matches, of which 77 have been in first grade.

Kate Rowlands is a member of Far North Coast Cricket Umpires’ and Scorers’ Association and umpires in the strong LJ Hooker League which stretches from Casino to Tweed Heads, being appointed to umpire the final in 2024-25. Kate joined NSWCUSA in 2020 and in season 2024-25 was selected for the U16 Female National Championships held in Ballarat being appointed by Cricket Australia to umpire the final.

Cricket NSW would like to wish the three departing State Panel members in Mitchell Claydon, Andrew Hamilton and Bede Sajowitz all the very best in their future umpiring endeavours, and express our gratitude for their service.

Claydon has been elevated to the Cricket Australia Contracted Umpire Panel for the coming season, and we congratulation him on this achievement. Hamilton has retired from officiating representative cricket, and Sajowitz is relocating to Melbourne and will be umpiring Victorian Premier Cricket in 2025-26.

Members of the State Panel may be appointed by Cricket Australia to umpire national underage championships, WBBL, WNCL and Men’s State Second XI fixtures.
