Six players from NSW and the ACT have been selected in the Cricket Australia XI squad to compete at the Female Under 18 National Championships starting Monday in Hobart and Launceston, Tasmania.

Basil Sellers Scholar Ananaya Sharma is among four NSW Metropolitan players selected along with Lauren Kua, Claire Moore and Frankie Nicklin. Clare Levings and Holly Simmons are the two representatives from ACT/NSW Country in the 14-player squad.

The squad was chosen at the conclusion of a Cricket Australia Under 15 Talent Camp that took place at the Bupa National Cricket Centre during October last year.

This year’s National Championships will again feature 10 teams, including the CA XI, NSW Metro and ACT/NSW Country, and will run from 13-23 January.

NSW Metro are the defending 50-over champions, while ACT/NSW Country made both the One-Day and T20 Finals at last year’s championships, losing to Queensland in the Twenty20 final.

Head Coach of the CA XI, and former NSW Breakers great, Leah Poulton said the championships presented a good opportunity for her team to test themselves against older and more developed cricketers.

“Hopefully they’ll come away from this experience with a clear idea on what parts of their game need to keep progressing to make it to the next level,” Poulton said.
