The best U18 players in NSW will meet for the 2015/16 U1/8 State Challenge next month.

Hosted in Maitland in September the State Challenge will see 48 of NSW’s brightest young cricketing prospects play in both 50 over and T20 matches.

The players have been split into four teams, two representing Metro NSW and two Regional NSW teams, and gives each player a chance to showcase their skills and compete against their peers.

The two-day carnival will see players from across the state in action, including members of the Lend Lease Breakers Academy Carly Leeson (North Coast), Amy Edgar (Western), Hannah Trethewy (Campbelltown-Camden), Belinda Vakawera (Campbelltown-Camden) and Mikayla Hinkley (Penrith)

The teams will play a 50 over match on Saturday (September 19) followed by two T20 matches on Sunday (September 20).

The weekend will give young players an opportunity to line up against the best emerging female talent in the state.

“The State Challenge is a great opportunity for these girls to get out on some good wickets early in the cricket season,” said NSW Female Pathway coach Leah Poulton.

“The players will also have a chance to test themselves against some high quality opposition, these are the best players this age group has to offer.”

“It’s a really good opportunity for players to put their hand up for further representative honours, and I expect there to be a few people keeping an eye on the performances in Maitland come September.”
