New South Wales Blues captain Peter Nevill will return to four-day cricket on Monday as skipper of the NSW Metro side for round 10 of the Toyota Futures League against Victoria.
Nevill is one of 11 Blues in the 12-player NSW Metro squad to take on Victoria at Ringwood Oval in Melbourne.
The match against Victoria will be important preparation for Nevill, and numerous other Blues, who may be in contention for selection to play Western Australia at Bankstown Oval on resumption of the JLT Sheffield Shield, February 23.
Both Nevill and speedster Harry Conway were part of the Blues XI that played the last round of the Shield against South Australia at the SCG. NSW currently sits second on the Shield table.
The Futures League reverts to the four-day format this week for the first time since late November.
It resumed with a series of T20 matches held in Blacktown and Perth in late January.
Daniel Solway is the only member of the squad chosen to play Victoria who is not a contracted Blues player and is the leading run-scorer for NSW Metro so far this season.
From just three matches, Solway has made 352 runs at the outstanding average of 88. The leading wicket taker for NSW Metro is Blues leg-spinner Daniel Fallins with 13 scalps.
