There was no shortage of highlights to come from a rain-affected round 8 of the NSW Men’s Premier Cricket Competition. Let’s take a look at the runs, wickets and milestones from Saturday’s play.

First ball – W, W, W! Randwick Petersham’s Adam Semple sent Fairfield-Liverpool from 0/11 to 3/11 in the matter of three balls! Semple’s hat-trick was followed by another three wickets in later deliveries which allowed him to finish with figures of 6-37. A huge congratulations to Adam who also passed the 400-wicket milestone for Randwick Petersham (now sitting on 401).

Second ball – Hawkes-bury the Dolphins! Chad Sammut picked up his second career 5-fa before Brock Fitton and Dale McKay combined for a 162-run 2nd wicket partnership to lead the Hawks to a 9-wicket victory over Eastern Suburbs. Believe it or not, this dominant performance was Hawkesbury’s first victory since their round 1 win over Campbelltown-Camden!

Third ball – Carruthers goes crazy! Bankstown opening batsman Nick Carruthers wasted no time reaching three figures with the bat, notching 6 sixes and 8 fours on his way to 101 off 67 balls. Opening partner Daniel Solway, played a more patient innings reaching 94 off 138 deliveries before being run out agonisingly short of his 19th first-grade century. These two batting performances proved crucial as 13th placed Bankstown chased down 3rd placed Sydney’s 272 on the final delivery of the match!

Fourth ball – New year, same Malone! Figures of 4-32 on Saturday, means Sydney University’s Devlin Malone has still not gone a match, one-day or T20, without picking up at least one wicket.

Fifth ball – Wark joins the 800 club! During St George vs Manly-Warringah’s 4th grade fixture, Steve Wark grabbed his 800th Grade wicket for St George.

Sixth ball – Northern District and Mosman are still the teams to beat. Sitting one and two on the ladder, both sides are yet to taste defeat in the Belvidere Cup. That should change come round 9 as the two teams are set to face off at Asquith Oval. Who will walk away undefeated?
