NSW Metro has had a tough start to its Toyota Futures League clash with Queensland at Blacktown International Sports Park with the visitors 3-302 at stumps.
Alecz Day (86), Charlie Hemphrey (96*) and Peter Forrest (100*) were the chief run makers for Queensland as the bat dominated on day one.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, NSW Metro snared an early wicket with Will Somerville dismissing opener Bryce Street for 4.
Sam Truloff was next to fall, Liam Hatcher trapping him LBW for 6.
Day went close to bringing up a century but saw his stay at the crease ended by Somerville who had him caught by Nic Bertus.
That would be the last bit of joy for NSW Metro as Hemphrey and Forrest combined to see out the day’s play with loss of further wickets.
Forrest would then go on to bring up his century from 172 balls to leave Queensland in a strong positions and the end of the day’s play.
