Kookaburra will continue as the official cricket ball supplier of the NSW Blues and Lendlease Breakers for another four years after the company agreed to extend its longstanding partnership of 20 years with Cricket NSW until 2022.
The agreement means that the iconic Kookaburra ball will continue to be used in all NSW Premier Cricket matches, and remain the official partner of the Sydney Cricket Association.
Kookaburra will also provide the ball for all senior and junior representative competitions affiliated with Country Cricket NSW and the Districts Cricket Association.
The company will also be the preferred equipment supplier for Cricket NSW, the Blues and Breakers.
Kookaburra will be an active partner of the Basil Sellers Scholarship Program, which recognizes and supports the next generation of Australian cricketing heroes hailing from NSW, as well as providing support through various pathway programs.
The Basil Sellers Program has produced 16 players that have represented Australia at the elite level since the inception of the program in 2006/07.
Cricket NSW Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Jones, said that it was with great pride that Kookaburra continued its longstanding association.
“Over the past 20 years we have seen great innovations in our sport, and throughout it all, Kookaburra has remained committed to producing an Australian-made cricket ball of the highest quality and standard,” said Jones.
“More and more girls and boys, men and women are playing cricket across NSW, and this partnership continues to allow us to reinvest in that growth. It also ensures that all our cricketers are playing with a premium product.”
Managing Director of Kookaburra Sport, Brett Elliot, said the partnership formed part of the commitment of the Kookaburra brand to cricket at all levels.
“Cricket NSW and the pathway it administers is an integral part of the Australian cricket system, so we are very proud to be a partner in that pathway and continue ... that (partnership which) will now stretch to 20 years ongoing with this latest extension,” Elliot said.
“The partnership will see us work with elite players and teams in NSW to ensure they get experience with the best quality balls in the world.”
“(It) also sees Kookaburra support the suburban and regional competitions that foster the next generation of stars.”
Elliot said Kookaburra was just as proud to be involved with the Basil Sellers Scholarship Program where the company will provide equipment support for the most talented young boys and girls in the state to assist their cricket development.
