Lendlease Breakers Lauren Cheatle, Mikayla Hinkley, Naomi Stalenberg and Rachel Trenaman have been named in the 12-player Governor General’s XI squad who will be playing England in a Twenty20 match on Wednesday, 15 November, Drummoyne Oval.

Trenaman, who is playing her first WNCL season for the Lendlease Breakers this summer is the youngest member of the squad at sixteen. She was also a member of the Governor-General’s side that proved too strong for South Africa last summer.

The Governor-General said the squad could prove strong competition against the visiting English team.

“This squad is the next generation of talented Australian cricketers, led by the impressive Nicole Bolton,” Sir Peter said.

“These young cricketers are ready to test their mettle against the English women. It’s going to be a fierce challenge under lights at Drummoyne Oval. Lynne and I look forward to cheering them on!”

Inspired by the traditional Prime Minister’s XI match for Australia’s male cricketers, the Governor-General’s XI fixture returns for the third consecutive summer, with the home side having claimed its first win last year against South Africa with the inaugural match abandoned due to rain.

The fixture comes at an exciting time in Australia, with the number one ranked team in the world - the Australian Women’s Cricket Team – just one Test win away from retaining the Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes with three T20 Internationals still to be played.
