An aggressive declaration from Victoria late on day three has set up an exciting final day of the Marsh Sheffield Shield match between NSW and Victoria at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
NSW are 1-41 at stumps on day three trailing by 248 runs. Nick Larkin was the wicket to fall before stumps when he was caught for 21 off the bowling of Peter Siddle.
Daniel Hughes (18 not out) and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon (yet to get off the mark) are the unbeaten batsmen.
Victoria’s declaration came about after a brisk century from Nic Maddinson (105 not out).
Maddinson’s ton came off 85 balls and featured nine fours and four sixes.
Earlier in the day, NSW were dismissed for 310 in the first innings trailing Victoria by 121 runs.
The Blues’ score was bolstered by some handy lower order runs from Harry Conway (28 not out) and Liam Hatcher (27) who put on a 51-run stand for the last wicket.
Victorian debutant Wil Parker was the leading wicket taker for the visitors claiming 3-54 from 25 overs.
Kurtis Patterson (54) marked his return to Sheffield Shield cricket with a half century on day two to be the leading run-scorer in the Blues’ first innings, with Moises Henriques making 49.
