Cricket NSW has begun an exciting new chapter in its long and proud history by moving to Sydney Olympic Park.

After 22 years as part of the Moore Park sporting precinct adjoining the Sydney Cricket Ground, Cricket NSW has moved into recently renovated office and training facilities at 6 Herb Elliott Ave.

This will be the Cricket NSW home for the next three years while a new $50 million state of the art administration, high performance and community facility is built on the north side of the Olympic Park precinct along the Parramatta River.

The Moore Park office and indoor cricket complex will be demolished as part of the Allianz Stadium redevelopment.

While Cricket NSW will no longer be based at Moore Park, we will continue to maintain a presence in the precinct with the Sydney Sixers, the Sydney Sixers Community Cricket Metro teams and Sydney based Cricket Australia staff continuing to be based in the area.

Cricket NSW Chief Executive Lee Germon thanked the State and Federal Governments and Cricket Australia for their support ensuring the construction of the new facility.

“This is an exciting new era in NSW cricket which will soon benefit not only our elite players but also thousands of club and community cricketers throughout Sydney and across the state,” Mr Germon said.

“The Moore Park indoor centre was used by 35,000 club and community cricketers each year and we expect more to be able to share our new complex once it is completed in 2022.”

Mr Germon said that Cricket NSW had outgrown its Moore Park facilities.

“Inside a decade we have gone from two teams, the NSW Blues and Breakers, to six fully professional sides with the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder Big Bash and Women’s Big Bash teams,” Mr Germon said.

“It is important that our current and emerging male and female athletes have the best possible opportunity to prepare in a modern high performance environment.

“NSW cricket has a strong tradition of success and regularly provides half the players in Australia’s men’s and women’s teams. We want that to continue.

“While we will no longer be based in Moore Park we continue to work closely with the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust to ensure the Blues and Sydney Sixers can play as many matches as possible at the SCG.

“And we are working to ensure our female cricketers are also able to play at some of the best available venues.”
