Fifty-three local cricket clubs and programs across the state have received grants through the New South Wales State Government 2018 Local Sport Grant Program announced on Tuesday 1 May.

The grant funding for cricket totalling $382,011, goes a long way in supporting grassroots cricket communities in NSW with projects ranging from Gunnedah Junior Cricket Club’s new three lane cricket practice facility at Namoi Playing Fields to the purchase of a heavy turf wicket roller for Faulconbridge Cricket Club Inc.

The NSW Local Sports Grant Program is an annual program available to all community sports programs and initiatives, with each NSW state electorate receiving a total funding allocation of $50,000.

The program aims to increase regular and on-going participation in sport or structured physical activity, address barriers to participation in sport or structured physical activity and assist sport clubs provide quality service to their members.

Four key project types are targeted through the grant: Sport Development ($2,000), Community Sport Events ($5,000), Sport Access ($5,000) and Facility Development ($20,000).

The NSW State Government Community Building Partnership program presents another great opportunity for local cricket community groups to source funding for shovel-ready facility projects. 

The 2018 Community Building Partnership program is now open and closes at 5pm sharp on 15 June 2018. Clubs are encouraged to discuss their projects with their local Cricket NSW Development Manager or contact Cricket NSW Community Facilities & Grants Coordinator, Teale Blessington.
