The NSW Blues have scored one of their greatest ever Sheffield Shield victories, defeating Tasmania in Adelaide by 145 runs, four days after being dismissed for a measly 64 in their first innings.
In what NSW’s 1162nd first-class match, the comeback marked the lowest first innings score it has turned into a win.
The previous lowest first innings score NSW had converted into victory was the 76 it scored in its first innings of its first-ever first-class match, against Victoria at the MCG way back in March 1856.
On that occasion, however, NSW actually led on the first innings as Victoria, batting first, only made 63. In their second innings, Victoria made just 28 before NSW lost seven wickets in making 16 to win.
