Justin Avendano has continued his stellar form in the Toyota Futures League for ACT/NSW Country with a double century against South Australia at Woodville Oval on Wednesday.

Avendano’s knock featured 23 fours and one six before he was eventually dismissed for 205 (305 balls) by Luke Robbins.

ACT/NSW Country’s 7-495 sets up a fascinating final day at Woodville Oval.

Their bowlers will have a healthy lead to try and defend, currently standing at 390 runs, but will need quick wickets on a pitch which appears to have flattened out.

NSW Blue Jay Lenton fell agonisingly short of a ton himself when he was dismissed for 97 (270 balls).

Matt Gilkes was also amongst the runs with a quick-fire 77 (104 balls) and remained not out at the end of the day’s play.

Earlier, South Australia’s Joshua Barrett was the stand out performer for the home side, compiling a patient 77 to steer his side to a competitive total of 303 in their first innings.

ACT/NSW Country’s Joe Kershaw was able to take the wickets of Daniel Drew (23), Luke Robins (0) and Nick Winter (5) to complete his maiden five-wicket haul at 2nd XI level.
