ACT/NSW Country have defeated Queensland by an innings and 184 runs to post their first victory of the Toyota Futures League this season at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
After Queensland resumed on the final day at 5/175, the hosts claimed the last five wickets before lunch to clinch victory. Queensland was dismissed for 272 with Tom Pinson (3-21) returning best figures. Corey Hunter (141) made a resolute century in defeat for the visitors.
Blues’ batsman Nick Larkin starred for ACT/NSW Country at the top of the order. His 205 from 320 balls and 240-run opening partnership with Blues’ team mate, Daniel Hughes (115), was the key to the emphatic win.
Trent Copeland was another Blues’ player to find form. He was very economical throughout the match. The NSW seamer collected figures of 3-27 and 2-19.
In the second innings, Copeland conceded just one run per over.
It was the complete team bowling performance by ACT/NSW Country. Pinson claimed four wickets for the match, while Nathan McAndrew was also good in both innings. He returned figures of 2-33 and 2-41.
Left-arm quick Greg West collected the impressive figures of 3-29 from eight overs in the first innings.
Ben Taylor bowled the most overs in the second innings for ACT/NSW Country. He picked up 3/129 from 42 overs.
