High Performance Schools
Cricket NSW and The Sports High Schools Association have launched a partnership -This is the first partnership with a sporting body and the entire Association.
The partnership will focus on:
- Further alignment of activities of the Cricket New South Wales High Performance Pathway
- Engaging and recruiting female athletes
- Continued investment in cricket infrastructure
- Ensuring Cricket is the #1 Sport of choice for young athletes male and female
The sporting high schools have been a breeding ground for cricketers for many a year, with Moises Henriques, Usman Khawaj , Sean Abbott, Josh Lalor, Gurinder Sandhu and Maisy Gibson being some the latest players to be a product of the sports high schools.
On the back of the recent success of the WBBL and the launch of the professionalisation of the Lendlease NSW Breakers this partnership will also have a High Focus on engaging female athletes again to further align the high performance pathway for female cricketers within NSW. Cricket NSW see this as a huge competitive advantage in the market. Being able to balance and align school work and cricket is a challenge for any young athlete.

The partnership will have 2 tiers :
- Cricket NSW Partnership School
Having 2 tiers ensures we maintain a criteria for schools to meet to be endorsed as a Cricket NSW High Performance School and the partnership school allows the schools to work with Cricket NSW to achieve the status of a HP School over a 1 – 3 year time frame.
CNSW’s visions for our High Performance School Program is that this model in time may be rolled out across the country. If you wish to have your school involved contact firstname.lastname@example.org
