Sydney Morning Cricket Association
Welcome to the Sydney Morning Cricket association 2008/09 Season
SEASON 2008/09 AT THIS STAGE IS PLANNED TO COMMENCE ON SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER, 2008.
For information on seasons earlier to 2007/08 see previous website - www.redleather.org.au
The SMCA was formerly known as the New South Wales Public Service Cricket Association, which was founded in 1928.
The Association runs the only adult Saturday Morning competition in summer and the only adult Winter Cricket competition held in Sydney. The matches are based around the Moore Park area of Sydney, NSW, Australia and are for amateur or "park" cricketers.
The advantage of playing in the morning in summer is that you get a game of cricket in but still have the rest of the day to do something else - go to the beach, have the afternoon with your family etc. You also miss the hottest part of the day.
Also, during our winter competition, teams only play every fortnight so players can have every second weekend off to go away or do something else with their weekends.
"The Morning Glories" are the SMCA's representative side that competes annually in the Martin Shield (Sydney Wide) competition, Hinton Shield, Noble Cup (v Queensland Public Service CA) and the Tommy Ray Memorial trophy matches.
The Association welcomes cricketers of any ability and will try and organise a regular game for any newcomers. If you would like to play in any of the Association's competitions then please email us at smca_cricket@yahoo.com.au
