Welcome to the Northern Inland Cricket Council
2008/09 Season

The Northern Inland Cricket Council was established at Armidale on 23 July 2006.

The Cricket Council was formed following the dissolution of the Far North West, North West and Northern Tablelands Cricket Councils. This brought to a close over half a century of administration of the game in this regional area of New South Wales by these Cricket Councils.

The development of the Northern Inland Cricket Council heralds a new era in cricket administration in the region in an ever challenging sporting, social and economic environment.

The North West Cricket Council and the Northern Tablelands Cricket Council were formed in 1952 following the separation of the North and Northwest Cricket Council. The Far North West Cricket was established in 1959. All three Council's played significant roles in the development of the game, with adminstrators such as Walter Taylor, John McNamara OAM, Wal Murray AM, Ken Falkenmire OAM, Ian Southwell OAM, Jim Williams, Tony Longworth and Bede Ryan playing major roles often over seveal decades.

The Northern Inland Cricket Council conducts district cricket competitions at 1st and 2nd XI level. The War Veterans Cup is contested by 1st XI sides and is the original district trophy played for under the direction of the North and Northwest Cricket Council from season 1945-46. The War Veterans Cup was presented by the New South Wales Cricket Association to acknowledge the outstanding contribution cricketers from this region made to the war effort in the conflict of 1939-45.

The MA Connolly Cup is contested at 2nd XI teams. The trophy dates from 1955 having been presented by Gunnedah cricket stalwart Mick Connolly as a challenge trophy to be contested by the top 2nd XI district sides from the North West and Northern Tablelands each season.

The Council is also responsible for coaching and development across the region with three regional directors of coaching operating in the northern, eastern and western sectors respectively.

The Council field sides in Central Northern Zone tournaments and trials at senior, colts, under 17, under 16 and under 14 beneath its black and gold colours. The Council will continue the great traditions of the North West, Northern Tablelands and Far North West Cricket Councils in managing the "meadow game with the mellow name" north of Murrurundi,
