New South Wales teenager Jason Sangha has been added to the Cricket Australia XI squad for their final two Matador BBQs One-Day Cup matches.

Sangha, a NSW Blues and Sydney Thunder rookie, will join the squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with the South Australian Redbacks at Hurstville Oval.

The 17-year-old comes into the side after captaining ACT/NSW Country at the Under 17 National Championships earlier this month.

Sangha has been included as an injury replacement player for Victorian Bushrangers rookie Sam Grimwade.

National Talent Manager Greg Chappell said:

“This is an exciting opportunity for Jason to join up with the squad, and potentially make his List A debut in the CA XI’s final two matches, if selected,” Chappell said.

“Jason captained the ACT/NSW Country under-17s at this year’s National Championships, and was an impressive performer in the under-17 and under-19 National Championships for the CA XI last year.

“His selection highlights the talent currently coming through the Pathways program.”

Grimwade, a right-arm off spin bowler, sustained a finger injury at training earlier this week.

The injury was to his bowling hand and required stitches, ruling him out of contention for the final two matches.
