NSW batting all-rounders Jack Edwards and Param Uppal have been named joint players of the Under 19 series between Australia and Sri Lanka.

Australia wrapped up the one-day series 4-1 in Hobart on Sunday with a 23-run victory after dominating the drawn three-day match which began the tour earlier this month.

NSW players made up four of the five leading run scores for Australia during the one-day tournament despite a number of players being rotated. Not surprisingly, Uppal and Edwards were the top two.

Uppal, a joint captain during the series with NSW team mate Jason Sangha and Victoria’s Will Sutherland, made 189 runs at 63 from four matches with the only century of the tournament from either side.

Uppal also claimed three wickets with his reliable spin.

Edwards made 155 runs at 51.66 in three matches with a highest score of 95 while Austin Waugh scored 135 runs at 45 with a highest score of 60 and also claimed three wickets with his clever medium pace.

Aged just 16, Edwards also scored 106 in the drawn three-day match against Sri Lanka Under 19s.

The most successful bowler in the three-day game was 195cm NSW paceman Ryan Hadley, who claimed 4-41 on the last day as Australia failed to force a result by three wickets.

Eight of the 14 players in the Australia Under 19 squad were from NSW.
