NSW Metro produced a stunning fight back on day four of the Toyota Futures League clash with Queensland at Blacktown International Sports Park but fell just short of the 436 runs required to win.

Metro were dismissed for 399 on the final day with Nick Bertus, Sean Abbott and Anthony Adlam all superb for the home side after being well behind in the game.

Resuming at 2-99, Metro lost the wicket of Jordan Gauci (24) when he gloved one to leg slip.

Ajrun Nair was next to go out for 5 with Metro 4-147.

Adlam fell just short of a well-deserved century when he mistimed a pull shot falling for 95.

Nick Bertus in combination with Sean Abbott then led a NSW Metro counter attack with Abbott clocking up a quick-fire 50 off just 34 balls.

Abbott would eventually depart for 62 when a Jason Floros delivery kept low and bowled him.

Bertus carried on with the attack from the other end and reached his 50 before he eventually fell for 81.

With 38 runs required to win, Daniel Sams and Daniel Fallins would come close but eventually fell short when Cameron Gannon bowled Sams for 52.
