The Lend Lease Breakers play arch rivals, Victoria, in Melbourne this weekend (January 4-6) in the last preliminary round of the Women’s National Cricket League (50 over) and Women’s T20 competitions.

This round is the perfect opportunity for the Lend Lease Breakers to get some tough matches under their belt ahead of finals. NSW are already guaranteed a place in the WT20 Final, while they have also qualified for next week’s Semi Finals of the WNCL.

Selectors have named a strong squad of 13 to play the Victorians, which includes eight players with International experience. Of those eight players, Alex Blackwell, Rachael Haynes, Sarah Coyte, Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry and Lisa Sthalekar will represent Australia at the ICC Women’s World Cup in India next month.

Ellyse Perry is returning to the NSW side after missing the rounds against South Australia, Tasmania and Western Australia with injury. Erin Osborne, who has also been selected in Australia’s World Cup team, will miss this round due to injury.

The full Lend Lease Breakers squad to play Victoria is (clubs/regions in brackets):

Alex Blackwell (captain – Universities/Riverina)
Rachael Haynes (vice-captain – Universities)
Sarah Aley (Bankstown Sports)
Nicola Carey (St George-Sutherland)
Sarah Coyte (Campbelltown-Camden)
Alyssa Healy (Sydney)
Claire Koski (Campbelltown-Camden)
Sharon Millanta (Bankstown Sports)
Ellyse Perry (Sydney)
Leah Poulton (St George-Sutherland/Newcastle)
Angela Reakes (Sydney/North Coast)
Lisa Sthalekar (Gordon)
Kara Sutherland (Universities/North Coast)

For the last few seasons, the Lend Lease Breakers and Victoria have been the benchmark teams in Australian domestic women’s cricket.

The Lend Lease Breakers have won the last seven consecutive WNCL titles with Victoria runners up for the last four seasons. Victoria, however, have defeated the Breakers to win the last three consecutive WT20 Finals.

The Lend Lease Breakers and Victoria play the first of their two WT20 matches at the Junction Oval on Friday (January 4, 3pm).

The second WT20 fixture will be played at the MCG on Sunday (January 6, 3pm) prior to the KFC T20 Big Bash League match between the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.

The WNCL fixture will be played at the Junction Oval on Sunday (January 5, 10am).
