The 2012/13 Sydney Grade season will be officially launched tomorrow (September 18) at the Sydney Cricket Ground with competition getting underway this Saturday (September 22).

There have been a number of changes to playing rosters during the winter months.

Defending champions Sydney University lost Stuart Clark to retirement after winning last season’s Belvidere Cup, however, they have been fortunate to secure the services of young NSW SpeedBlitz Blues, and former Parramatta allrounder, Sean Abbott.

A number of players have also returned to their ‘old homes’. Most notably NSW SpeedBlitz Blues squad member, Brad Haddin, and his Sydney Sixers team mate, Dominic Thornely, who have re-linked with Northern District after several seasons at Eastern Suburbs, and Sydney, respectively.

Also back at their former clubs are the Coyte brothers, Scott and Adam. The duo, who will both play for the Sydney Thunder this summer, are back in Campbelltown-Camden colours after leaving Randwick Petersham at the end of last season.

Campbelltown-Camden have further strengthened their line-up with former NSW U/19 representative and NSW SpeedBlitz Blues rookie, Simon Keen, who is back in Sydney after a short stint in Melbourne.

The winners of last summer’s First Grade Limited Overs and Twenty20 competitions, Randwick Petersham, have picked up former South Australian batsman Cameron Borgas, who has moved north to link with the Sydney Thunder.

Borgas’ presence helps to off-set the loss of Usman Khawaja and Nathan Hauritz, who both moved to Queensland, while former NSW and Australian batsman, Simon Katich, is expected to be available at different stages of the season.

Club Champions Manly-Warringah have also recruited Ahilleen Beadle from Eastern Suburbs.

The Sydney Grade competition commences this weekend for First Grade through to Fifth Grade with a Two Day match.
