The touring England men’s team will be heading to Sydney for a One-day tour match against CA XI on Thursday, 11 January 2018.

England will play five tour matches, visiting Adelaide, Perth, Townsville and Sydney, in their preparations for this summer’s blockbuster Men’s Ashes Series – three ahead of the first Test, one between the second and third Tests and a one-day tour match in Sydney.

After the first match in Perth, the England squad will move to Adelaide to take on some of Australia’s rising stars in a four-day, day-night match against the Cricket Australia XI at Adelaide Oval from 8 November.

Townsville’s Tony Ireland Stadium will then host England in a second four-day match from 15 November, again taking on a CA XI, ahead of the First Test at the GABBA commencing on 23 November.

The tour matches will then be rounded out with a Two-day match in Perth on 9 November and the final, all-important One-day match in Sydney ahead of the start of the One-Day International series in early 2018.

Speaking on the announcement, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager of Team Performance, Pat Howard said:

“Those fans here to support England can get along to these matches and in particular we’re pleased to be able to bring a four-day match up to Townsville, ahead of the Ashes series kicking off, giving North Queenslanders the chance to enjoy International Cricket in their own backyard,’’ said Mr Howard.

“It also complements our desire to inspire grass-roots participation in the game as well as deliver positive impacts for the local economy and provide opportunities to promote the destination both domestically and internationally.

“These tour matches also importantly provide our emerging players the ability to experience top level international competition,” he concluded.
