Jay Lenton and Justin Avendano have spearheaded an ACT/NSW Country fight back on day two of the Toyota Futures League match against Western Australia on Tuesday.

Avendano made 73 off only 71 balls with Jay Lenton unbeaten on 72 (140 balls) as ACT/NSW Country went to stumps at 7-231.

Earlier in the day, WA posted a mammoth first innings total of 6/416 declared, with Will Bosisto notching a double century while Clinton Hinchliffe made 121.

ACT/NSW Country lost their opening pair of Henry Hunt (28) and Andrew Harriott (12) before Lenton and Avendano came together with their side at 2-85.

Avendano was eventually dismissed bowled by Andrew Holder, bringing his entertaining innings to an end, which included 14 fours and one six.

Lenton would see out the day’s play despite ACT/NSW Country losing two late wickets to be seven wickets down at stumps on day two.
