news Central Coast Double Success - Win Under 14s State Challenge [Country Cricket]
Mon 26-Jan-2009 22:42

Central Coast have completed a fine double in defeating Bankstown (the Harold Moore Shield winners) in the inaugural Under 14 State Challenge held at Cowra on the 26th January.

Batting first, the Coast got away to a good start with openers Jake Scicluna (29) and Blake Ryan (46) scoring freely against some wayward bowling. Andrew Glassock (37) and Dylan O'Harae (30) continued the good work setting up Central Coast for a 200 run plus total. Some excellent bowling from Bankstown's Eathan Leten (4-41), Chris Bale (2-16) and Rhys Williams (2-26) saw Central Coast lose their last 6 wickets for 45 runs to be dismissed for 198.

In reply the Bulldogs got away to a solid start with Dan Solway (23), Harrison Dean (19), Camden Hawkins (20) and Michael Challita (42) well on top of the bowling to place Bankstown in a strong position to secure victory. However an amazing spell of bowling from Dean Coughlin who took the first 7 wickets saw Bankstown lose their last 7 wickets for 53 runs  to be dismissed for 158. Coughlan in an outstanding performance finished with the sensational figures of 7-22.
